Two of the works made by the artist Manu Arregui are currently exposed in the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. It is the work “Irresistiblemente bonito” and work “Con gesto afeminado”.
“Irresistiblemente bonito” form part of the museum collection. The work has as its protagonist Vanesa Jiménez, known as “The girl with glass bones ” because she suffers an disease called Mc Cunee Albright syndrome. The work consists in two projections where appears an image of real Vanesa and a virtual image that is confronted in which she recites a poem made by the artist, about her and her beauty.
On the other hand, in the exhibition Selections from the collection of the Guggenheim Museum of Bilbao IV, exposed from November 19 to August 31, 2014, the museum has included the work of Manu Arregui titled “Con gesto afeminado”. In this instance it’s an installation consisting of a montage of video and a piece of sculpture, in which the artist criticizes the sexism and misogyny based on the movie Night 1935 Spring ballet and Russian ballets.
